ING is the company of my first internship. It were six months from the 1st of September until the 28th of February and it was in Amsterdam Bijlmer. ING is an incredibly large bank, with so many different departments. Another intern of ING had found me at LinkedIn, in a special group for people who were looking for a good internship. After a procedure of writing a cover letter, a resume and doing an interview, I was chosen for the internship! I was really happy and I was looking forward to that challenge.

 

I chose for the department ‘Internal Communicatons’, a part of the department communications. At that department I have organized several big events for the whole company, did some researches for employees, made a communication plan and have organized some events and activities for the interns of ING. At the several big events I have organized, I had responsibilities from the beginning to the end. I often had to work in teams which made me a real team player. Next to this I have developed my business communication skills in both writing and talking, by giving presentations and writing several business texts and communication plans.

 

In this period I have learned so many things: to make a good script, set up correct newsletters, make good communication plans, make scenarios for the days of the events, do and work out examinations, draft and confirm tenders, run projects from the beginning to the end and so on. I got a lot of freedom and responsibility in my internship. It was a great experience to help at the events, because then you see what you have organized for the company. I got a lot of positive reactions of several employees; I had no stress, had everything under control, was very flexible and had thought of everything. Sometimes I left home at 06:45 AM and came home at 19:30 PM, so I don't have a 9 till 5 mentality.

 

The internship at ING was awesome; I met amazing people, learned so much and had so much fun. During this months I made an internship report, including the attachments with a movie I made.
